Twelve British exchange students travelled to the People's Republic of China in the late 1980s. Their unusual destination was Taiyuan City in Shanxi Province. One of them took a camera with him to document the experience. Gary Heath captured affecting snapshots of classmates, teachers and citizenry in Taiyuan.
