In an ideal world, we are all born equal. Though in reality some are, some are not. As Shakespeare once quoted; Some are born great, some seek greatness, where some have greatness thrust upon them. None of those were in the offering when I was born. Though it was somewhat similar in a funny kind of way. Born with a disability in search of understanding, then when rubble from the bomb blast was thrust upon me. This was in a time where we had to accept what we had. Not just I, but so many of us. Poetry was my way of learning, pronouncing words I had found hard. I could not go through life without some form of literacy, so to be able to explain myself. Whether to my peers, or my children, I needed to find an answer. Poetry became my salvation. Crosswords was another form of spelling words that I needed, so to get on in life. I never ever wanted to write a book. I would have preferred to walk across hot coals in bare feet, then attempt anything like that. Though it was researching the history of Humpty Dumpty that stirred the passion for poetry. Though I still feel my dyslexia has many things that are pluses and negatives, we see things differently and we are good with our hands, it's just our brain reacts faster then our ability to read and our lips are dragged along unable to keep pace with our brains.
