Description
General of the Armies John Joseph Pershing GCB (13. September 1860 - 15. Juli 1948), Spitzname "Black Jack", war ein hochrangiger Offizier der United States Army. Am bekanntesten wurde er als Kommandeur der American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) im Ersten Weltkrieg von 1917 bis 1920. Pershing führte die AEF nicht nur zum Sieg im Ersten Weltkrieg, sondern diente auch als Mentor für viele Generäle der Generation, die die US-Armee im Zweiten Weltkrieg führte, darunter George C. Marshall, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Omar Bradley, Lesley J. McNair, George S. Patton und Douglas MacArthur.
