Beschreibung

Four years after the death of her mentally ill mother, Natalie, Jessica Jordan finds herself still alone and unable to move on with her life. Plagued with anxiety and bouts of depression, Jessica becomes concerned with the state of her own mental well-being and fears becoming like her mother.

When Cole Sloan moves in down the road and attempts to befriend her, Jessica is embarrassed of the way she lives and puts up walls around herself, refusing to let him in. But Cole is persistent and Jessica soon realizes she must change her reclusive ways. Cole becomes the catalyst for these changes and, because of him, she is finally brave enough to go through her mother's possessions and begin to heal her heart.

Jessica discovers a handwritten book her mother left behind for her, describing the horrid details of Natalie's previously unknown childhood. As she reads, she learns that her mother was very intelligent and more aware of her surroundings than Jessica ever realized. Through her mother's final words, Jessica gets to know who she really was, and as she gets closer to Cole, she realizes the possibilities within herself.
